Inspired by the geometric circular mosaics created over 700 years ago by the Cosmati family for Italian cathedrals, this candle brings their designs and history to life. The porcelain vessel is beautifully adorned with the Cosmati family's intricate patterns.

Max Benjamin scented candles are designed to create the perfect ambiance. Made from a blend of multiple types of natural wax and Italian cotton wicks, the candles are fragranced using only the finest essential oils. They offer the ideal combination of scent for any room and any mood.

Max Benjamin candles and fragrances are the perfect gift – whether for a loved one, a personal indulgence, or simply a relaxing moment.

All Max Benjamin candles are hand-poured in their production facility in County Wicklow, Ireland.
Each candle takes around 7 hours to make.

The Wick
The braided wick is made from 100% Italian cotton and is lead-free for a clean, smoke-free burn.
It is manually centered and secured at the base of each container to optimize wax burning.

The Wax
100% natural soy wax – PARAFFIN-FREE.
The wax blend used for Max Benjamin candles is sourced from 100% natural origins, including soy and other plant-based reusable waxes. It is biodegradable, eco-friendly, and does not contain animal-derived substances.

Soy wax burns slowly and cleanly, without producing soot.
As the wax is plant-based, fragrance intensity and texture may vary slightly — this is completely normal.

The wax is blended with essential oils at a controlled temperature to form a smooth liquid that ensures even fragrance diffusion over time.
Avoid burning the candle for more than 2–3 hours at once — the melted wax will continue to emit fragrance even after extinguishing the flame.

Production Process
About 75% of the wax is poured first, left to cool, and then air pockets or imperfections are manually smoothed out.
A final 1 cm layer is poured and allowed to cool again before the candle is packaged.

About the Brand

Max Benjamin is run by siblings Orla, Mark, and David Van den Bergh in Enniskerry, County Wicklow. Named after Orla’s twin sons, Max and Ben, the company began handcrafting natural candles in the 1990s.

Their unique fragrance collections are internationally recognized for their contemporary design, craftsmanship, and use of natural ingredients.
Today, the Van den Bergh family continues to inspire people through a journey of fragrance discovery and expression.

Orla Van den Bergh, the company’s founder, learned the art of candle-making in the U.S., where she discovered the complexity of crafting high-quality candles. Her talent for blending waxes and essential oils has remained at the heart of the brand ever since.

Upon returning to Ireland, Orla brought this expertise home, using it to create refined candles that quickly became more popular than she ever imagined — and so, Max Benjamin was born.
