Inspired by the circular geometric mosaics created by the Cosmati family for Italian cathedrals over 700 years ago, this candle brings their patterns and history to life. The porcelain vessel is adorned with the swirling Cosmati designs.

Max Benjamin’s candles and fragrance products make the perfect gift – for a loved one, for yourself, or simply to create a relaxing moment.

Each candle is hand-poured at the brand’s production facility in Co. Wicklow, Ireland, taking approximately 7 hours to complete.

The Wick
The braided wick is made from 100% Italian cotton and is lead-free for a clean burn without black smoke. It is manually inserted and centered in each vessel for optimal wax burn.

The Wax
100% natural soy wax – paraffin-free.
The wax blend used in Max Benjamin candles comes from 100% natural sources – a mix of soy wax and other plant-based reusable waxes. It is biodegradable, eco-friendly, and burns slowly and cleanly, without soot.

Because the wax is made from natural plant-based substances, fragrance strength and texture may vary – this is completely normal. The wax is blended with essential oils at specific temperatures to create a homogeneous liquid, ensuring consistent fragrance diffusion over time. Do not burn the candle for more than 2–3 hours at a time – the melted wax continues to release fragrance even after the flame is extinguished.

Manufacturing Process
First, about 75% of the vessel is filled with wax, then allowed to cool. Any air pockets or gaps are smoothed manually.
Then, approximately 1 cm of additional wax is poured on top and allowed to cool again before final packaging.

About the Brand

Max Benjamin is a family-run company founded by siblings Orla, Mark, and David Van den Bergh in Enniskerry, County Wicklow. Named after Orla’s twin sons, Max and Ben, the company has been making hand-poured natural candles since the 1990s.

Max Benjamin’s unique fragrance collections are loved worldwide for their contemporary design, craftsmanship, and use of natural ingredients. The Van den Bergh family continues to take people on a journey of exploration and expression through scent.

Orla learned the art of candle-making in the U.S., where she discovered the complexity of crafting high-quality candles. Blending various types of wax and essential oils came naturally to her, and she continues to use this skill today.

Upon returning to Ireland, she brought this knowledge home and began producing refined candles that became more popular than she ever imagined – and thus, the story of Max Benjamin began.
