Housed in a porcelain vessel with a bold Art Deco design in grey, fresh blue, and shimmering gold, this candle is inspired by the dynamism and expressionism of the 1920s. It features a rich base of vanilla, patchouli, oak moss, and tonka bean, a welcoming heart of lavender, and a fresh green top note. A decadent fragrance for any space.

All Max Benjamin candles are hand-poured at their workshop in County Wicklow, Ireland. Each candle takes approximately 7 hours to complete.

The Wick

The braided wick is made from 100% Italian cotton and contains no lead, ensuring a clean, smoke-free burn. The wick is hand-inserted into each vessel and perfectly centered through a metal base for optimal wax burning.

The Wax

100% natural soy wax – PARAFFIN-FREE

The wax blend is sourced entirely from natural ingredients—soy and other reusable plant-based waxes. It is biodegradable, eco-friendly, and free from animal-derived substances. Unlike paraffin-based wax, it burns slowly and cleanly, producing no soot. As a plant-based product, the scent intensity and texture may vary—this is completely normal.

The wax is blended with essential oils at a specific temperature to ensure a homogeneous liquid and even fragrance diffusion. The candle should not burn for more than 2–3 hours at a time—the melted wax will continue to release fragrance even after the flame is extinguished.

Manufacturing Process

First, about 75% of the vessel is filled and allowed to cool. Any voids or bubbles are manually smoothed. Then, approximately 1 cm of additional wax is poured, and the candle is cooled again before packaging.

About the Brand

Max Benjamin is owned by siblings Orla, Mark, and David Van den Bergh in Enniskerry, County Wicklow. Named after Orla’s twin sons, Max and Ben, the company began producing handcrafted natural candles in the 1990s. Their fragrance collections are globally admired for their contemporary design, craftsmanship, and natural ingredients. Today, the Van den Bergh family continues to inspire through their passion for scent and design.

Founder Orla Van den Bergh learned the art of candle making in the U.S., where she discovered the complexities of producing premium candles. Her skill in blending waxes and essential oils came naturally, and she continues to apply it today. Upon returning to Ireland, she brought her expertise with her, creating refined candles that quickly grew in popularity—marking the beginning of the Max Benjamin story.
